Christchurch Airport to the University of Canterbury is the shortest Sprinter run we quote in any city — about 7 kilometres down Memorial Avenue to the Ilam campus, usually 10 to 12 minutes. The point of the Sprinter here isn’t distance, it’s arrival load: up to 10 passengers with 10 suitcases and 10 carry-on bags, which is what an international student intake, a visiting sports side or a conference group actually lands with. The price is fixed and GST-inclusive, shown in full before you book.
Why book a Sprinter for a 10-minute journey?
Because ten people with a semester’s luggage don’t fit in taxis without splitting into three or four cars. One Sprinter meets the flight, loads everything once, and delivers the whole group to campus together — one booking, one fixed price, no per-car meters.
Where on campus can we be dropped?
Anywhere road-accessible: the main Ilam campus, the Dovedale Avenue side, or student accommodation around Ilam and Kirkwood Avenue. Put the exact building or hall in the booking notes and your chauffeur will take you to that door, not a gate.
Can we keep the Sprinter for a campus visit or a tournament day?
Yes — and in Christchurch the hourly rates are published: the Sprinter runs $185 per hour with a 4-hour minimum, or $1,480 for a full day. (The E-Class is $135/hour and the V-Class $145/hour, with full-day rates of $1,350 and $1,450.) For open days, multi-venue sports fixtures or a delegation’s city schedule, hourly hire is usually the better shape than chaining transfers.
Is a fixed price still worthwhile on such a short hop?
That’s exactly when it matters. Short urban runs are where meters and surge multipliers distort most — the fixed price for the airport-to-Ilam run is quoted to your address before you pay, and it’s the same figure on a rainy graduation morning as on a quiet Tuesday.
Who meets an international student group off a long-haul flight?
A chauffeur employed and trained by us — not a contractor — waiting in the arrivals hall with a name board, flight-tracked so a late connection doesn’t strand anyone. We’ve operated this way since 2002.
Fixed prices, NZD, GST-inclusive. No surge, ever. The vehicle you book is the vehicle that arrives, driven by a chauffeur we employ — trained by us and accountable to us, not an app contractor who can decline the job. The chauffeur — since 2002.
